The ground and second floors of an existing lab block were refurbished to provide a Development suite facility and research laboratories respectively. The project therefore represented a number of challenges, not least of which was to provide a high quality facility within the constraints of an existing building.
The existing first and third floor laboratories were in use for the duration of the contract, meaning that extremely close coordination of construction activities was essential to prevent any disruption.
Boulting Environmental Services were involved from the scoping stage, developing the User Requirement Specification together with facility layouts and room data sheets. We were responsible for the complete design and installation of all mechanical, electrical and HVAC services together with the architectural fit out. This enabled us to provide a fully coordinated approach.
The services provided include solvent extract systems, purified water, chilled water, LPHW, sprinklers, laboratory gases, domestic services, power, data, fire alarms & lighting control systems.
