This brand new facility combined four floors of environmental research labs, constant temperature rooms and associated write up areas. The services comprised new LTHW boiler plant & centralised Chilled water system, individual AHU’s for labs and constant temp rooms, fume extraction and domestic services. Extensive HV mains diversions were carried out including the installation of a new packaged Sub Station. Further electrical services included lighting and an associated control system, small power, data installation complete with UPS and parameter monitoring system.
On site works were complicated by the business needs for continuity of long term studies whilst demolition took place. In order to minimise this risk, decanting works were scheduled which included new temporary laboratory cabins and extensive works within the operational facilities themselves.
The new internal fit-out of the laboratories and Constant Temperature rooms included vinyl flooring, state of the art Cleanroom panel walls and walk-on ceilings complete with integrated services routes together with high quality doors. The walls between the write up area and laboratories were fully glazed to enable the full benefit of natural daylight.
