Having previously delivered two significant and successful design and build projects for our client, BES was commissioned to develop a design solution for a new API facility. The new plant links to an existing manufacturing building to improve production flow and will provide a modernised and expanded process capability.
Operating within tight budget constraints, BES was tasked with establishing a flexible solution, expanding production capabilities and allowing future process upgrades. Due to the nature of the facility, our experts had to ensure ATEX rated process zones were designed to comply with hazardous area classification, meeting stringent criteria.
Working in close collaboration with end users, we developed a number of options along with budget costs which allowed the Client to make an informed decision on how to proceed. The chosen option was developed in detail, providing improvements to both the process layout and the supporting accommodation, including the need for a pressure resistant booth to house the hydrogenation process, service corridor and dedicated plant space whilst maximising production capacity.
BES exceeded our expectations during the R&D facility project and we have been impressed once again by the niche expertise within the business and the attention to detail across the team. They have even considered operational factors such as the height of different operatives and how that will affect their field of vision from the production facility floor!
Our investment in this facility is a vital part of our business continuity planning and we are looking forward to seeing it become operational next year.
