We completed £ Muliti-million D&B project to create a state-of-the art inhaler manufacturing cleanroom facility for Bespak, at their Holmes Chapel, UK, site.
The inhalation industry is under pressure to transition to low carbon pressurised Metered Dose Inhalers (pMDIs) amid soaring demand and limited global capacity. This shift is urgent due to pMDIs' significant carbon footprint. The project required rapid execution within a live operational site. Coordinating 500 operatives and 50 subcontractors added to the challenge, demanding innovative solutions to meet cleanroom compliance, environmental targets and ensure timely delivery.
BES successfully expanded Bespak’s Holmes Chapel site, significantly boosting capacity for low carbon pMDIs. A state-of-the-art cGMP Grade D cleanroom was constructed, incorporating Norwood’s demountable partition system and featuring high-speed aerosol mixing and filling lines. The project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget, maintaining uninterrupted operations. By leveraging Modern Methods of Construction and digital tools, the expansion ensured sustainability and efficiency, reinforcing the UK’s leadership in the inhalation industry’s green transition.
We are committed to leading the transition to low GWP propellants in pMDIs, and our expanded facilities will allow us to provide customers with an agile pathway to commercialisation at our Holmes Chapel site. The close collaboration with BES enabled a smooth and effective working relationship delivering certain phases ahead of schedule, enabling our site operations teams to start their preparation to go live on the line earlier than originally planned. Our customers will benefit from our drive to shorten timelines while maintaining excellence, facilitated in this case by our strong collaboration with BES.
