BES were employed as principal contractor, undertaking the full turnkey construction, commissioning and validation of a new Pharmacy Manufacturing Unit - including demolition, architectural fit out, HVAC and electrical.
BES was tasked with undertaking work within a fully operational central London hospital. The key challenge was to carry out all construction works, including demolition and strip out without disruption to other fully operational departments on adjacent floors. Access and egress for personnel and materials laydown was also severely limited due to the facility being located on the 13th floor.
BES successfully carried internal fit out comprising both non-sterile Grade C and Grade D cleanrooms as well as non-GMP areas including QA and QC labs and support offices. The impact to departments on other floors was minimised by careful management and close liaison with estates and users. Close attention to pre planned deliveries allowed a ’just in time’ material flow into the construction areas. As part of this project, BES fully designed, installed and validated a new WFI system, along with new autoclave, dust containment booth and isolators. The complete HVAC system was fully validated to cGMP requirements, including smoke visualisation and microbiological sampling.
