Following successful completion of the detailed design, we were appointed as Principal Contractor to carry out construction, commissioning and validation of this new state-of-the-art research and development facility for a world leader in the treatment of opioid addiction, Indivior.
As the Client were reliant on rented laboratory space to carry out its crucial R&D activities, it was critical that the construction was completed as soon as possible, as well as ensuring the design intent was reflected in high grade finishes, ultimately providing a modern, compliant building which would act as the UK's ‘Centre of Excellence’.
By carefully sequencing and overlapping shell activities in the early stages as well monitoring and driving the internal construction works via our interactive PDR process, the completed facility was handed over 3 months ahead of schedule. The Home Office conducted a full inspection with the auditor not only giving the building full approval, but also commenting that it was ‘state-of-the-art’.
Indivior originally selected BES through a competitive tender process where BES were the most competitive in terms of both price and delivery timeline.
Immediately following the awarding of the contract to BES, we started on a very collaborative journey together through the macro design, detailed design and construction phases of the facility. We have dealt with both opportunities and/or challenges in a transparent way, seeking optimal solutions for both parties without conflict or politics and have yet to resort to the contract to resolve any issues.
On the back of the strong collaborative relationship, good project management (and good luck with the weather) the project is due to be delivered on cost, and 3 months ahead of schedule.
The quality of the workmanship and cleanliness of the site during construction has been above expectation.
