BES Completed Major Pharmaceutical Facility Expansion Earlier This Year

As multidisciplinary specialists in the design and delivery of pharmaceutical facilities, we completed a significant design-and-build project to expand operations at a leading UK-based plasma-derived medicines manufacturer.
As the principal designer and contractor, BES delivered an intricate, complex expansion that included an extended and repurposed Grade C suite and a new sterile filling line to achieve a higher run rate. The project required an extension and modification of an existing building housing a fully operational line, with production remaining live throughout construction. Maintaining quality control and preventing contamination were naturally of the highest priority.
BES’s Project Manager, Louis Edwards, commented:

The project involved removing the building’s front façade and over 31 tonnes of concrete, completely stripping out and modifying the existing infrastructure. BES managed the design, installation, commissioning, and validation of critical high-purity process utilities alongside civil and structural works.
The successful completion of this expansion enables the manufacturer to increase capacity, support the growing global demand for plasma-derived medicinal products (PDMPs), and manufacture new products to treat a wide range of immune deficiencies and autoimmune conditions.
