Centre of Excellence in Hull

Following the completion of a detailed design phase, BES have successfully negotiated a £13 million contract to construct a new Research and Development facility for a global specialty pharmaceutical business and world leader in the treatment of opioid addiction.

In our role as Principal Designer and Contractor we are carrying out a complete turnkey package including groundwork, pilling, shell construction, internal specialist architectural fit out of cleanrooms and high spec laboratories including all building services, commissioning, and validation.

BES’s in-house team of designers, engineers, and architectural technologists have worked incredibly hard to provide a cost effective and environmentally responsible solution, customised to suit our client’s requirements. Working closely with the users and engineering teams we used the client’s initial concept study and developed it into a fully compliant design solution. The final design culminated in a 5,000 square meter two storey building comprising ISO7 & ISO8 cleanrooms and laboratories, with external staff and visitor parking and delivery areas.

We are now moving into the construction phase of the project and have started works on the brownfield site in Hull, Yorkshire. All site operations are carefully controlled by our experienced Construction Managers and Supervisors.

With the overall project completion scheduled for the second quarter of 2017, this contract is extremely significant for BES, with the opportunity to build a relationship with a new client, and bring to life this highly prestigious facility, which will be the European Centre of Excellence in the field of addiction treatment development.
