Process-driven design of state-of-the-art manufacturing facility
â€‹BES are delighted to have been selected to undertake the full design up to RIBA stage 4 of a new multimillion pound production facility for a world-leading medical equipment manufacturer. Our client specialises in advanced wound management and surgical devices and this investment will allow and support the company’s growth.
The client’s existing manufacturing process is at the end of its serviceable life and must be replaced to ensure a continued supply of adhesive used in their wound management products. The process is also extremely operator-intensive with many time consuming activities.
The current manufacturing facility is in a poor state of repair. In addition, the building has significant location problems which make material flow to the next stage of the production process difficult.
Working in partnership with a UK leading process engineering expert, our highly skilled and experienced in-house architects and designers will deliver a fully integrated solution including architectural, structural, civil, process and mechanical & electrical services.
Fulfilling the role of Principal Designer, BES are working in an open and collaborative way with our client and partner to understand the intricacies of the manufacturing process and define comprehensive project requirements. Although improvements to the process need to be made, we need to ensure that they do not impact the current product licence, and any changes will be carefully considered.
Primary M&E services are close to the limit and therefore detailed load reviews & surveys are being conducted, and suggestions provided to make the infrastructure more resilient.
The project will be designed using BIM (Level 2) 3D principles to aid effective coordination of all the engineering and construction elements.
The new plant will be designed to meet the throughput demand and stringent FM Global standards and will be reliable & cGMP compliant with improved automation.
Our state-of-the-art solution will double our client’s manufacturing capacity, allowing them to produce the pioneering medical products to their customers on an even bigger scale.
