#BESWorkingTogether

Now, more than ever, we are drawing upon the strength of BES’s collaborative culture to help us navigate through the current challenges. The Covid-19 pandemic presents a number of challenges on both personal and professional levels that we must learn to adapt to and cope with.

At BES, our employees continue to work together, appreciating that others are facing the same challenges and that it’s okay to require more flexibility than usual. We are sharing with, and supporting, each other as we all learn different ways of working.

We’d like to share with you some thoughts of our team members who currently work on design and construction projects, supporting our clients in healthcare and pharmaceutical markets. In brief interviews, they talk about their current projects and how they are finding themselves in this new reality.

"I am currently working on a new aseptic facility at Weston Park Hospital in Sheffield. It will soon be dispensing vital chemotherapy drugs for cancer patients within the hospital. We are trying to push for completion as fast as possible whilst also factoring in the correct social distancing measures to ensure the safety of all members of staff
and contractors. Working from home has been challenging at times; whilst managing emails and calls I have been often distracted by the Power Rangers theme tune which my 6 year old is obsessed with. I also had to attend regular tea parties with my 3 year little girl!" READ MORE

"I am working on a number of projects as part of the Term Contract for our blue chip client. The site has been given ‘essential works’ status due to the number of pharmaceutical medication that is produced and packed there. I attend the site approximately one day a week to carry out surveys of new projects and deal with on site queries where needed, the other four days I work remotely from home. My wife and I recently sold our house to start another exciting renovation. So we have been spending lockdown in a house that resembles a building site!"

"I am currently working on the Viral Vector project for Cobra Biologics in Keele. The project has been given ‘Essential Works’ status due to the involvement in the covid-19 vaccine development; we are in the final stages of a facility fit out.

I am privileged to be in a position where the work I am involved in is able to make a difference and help others. We may not be on the front line with our NHS heroes but behind the scenes we are putting infrastructure in place to help people going forward."

“I am currently working from home, leading a design commission to remodel an existing fallow area into a new medical devices manufacturing facility. Being a mum of two young children during lockdown means that in addition to being a design engineer, I am also a teacher / cook / cleaner / entertainer.

It is challenging, however surprisingly manageable. So perhaps the lockdown has given me the opportunity to revaluate my working patterns and find ways how to do it better and more efficiently.”
