We recently put Lean principles into practice to create a new office area within one of our key client's facilities. The new area is to house a Lean Academy, recently created to support the client's drive to build a sustainable, Lean capability. As part of our commitment to the occupational health, safety and wellbeing, all BES site based employees have just completed their annual health screening with accredited professionals. The occupational health assessment included hearing tests, skin checks, lung function testing and Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) assessment. On a construction site, there are many hazards which may present a risk to health. Therefore, it is important we monitor our employees through a health surveillance programme to provide early identification of any medical problems and undertake any corrective action required. Following the completion of an initial design phase where the BES team have developed new layouts and established coordinated services for a new pharmacy and aseptic suite, we are now moving into the construction phase of the project. Over the next 4 weeks we will carry out demolition and strip out works to clear the 6th and 7th floor areas, enabling the required room configurations to suit the new layout. A big thanks to BESA for arranging a fantastic awards evening at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Manchester on Saturday evening celebrating the achievements of the building engineering services sector in the North West of England. Our BD Manger, Gary Horrocks is attending Semiconductor Packaging Workshop at the Newport Wafer Fab facility to learn more about the complexities of semiconductor packaging technologies and network with leading technology experts.
