Project engineer, James Robinson has achieved a First Class Honours degree from UCLan (University of Central Lancashire) after BES enabled him to complete both an HNC and a degree as part of his apprenticeship. James joined BES aged just 16 after completing a year at sixth form college and deciding that he wanted to earn as he learned instead of going down a more traditional academic route. We have recently completed a £1.8 million project to create a Quality Assurance (QA) laboratory to GMP standards within an existing high bay warehouse. Works are progressing well on the construction of the new Sterile Production Plant at AstraZeneca in Macclesfield. We are very excited to report the achievement of a significant milestone, as the facility’s four Chillers, utilizing the environmentally friendly, high efficiency ammonia refrigerant, were successfully delivered and positioned. Each Chiller, weighing 17 tonnes, was lifted into position utilizing a 450 tonne crane. As Principal Contractor on this project, we are thrilled to meet this milestone with all works carried out safely and on time. A great collaborative effort by all involved!
Following a sustained increase in demand for design projects over the past financial year, BES, the specialist in delivery of complex projects for the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors, has increased its design team with 14 new roles. BES has begun construction of a further sterile production plant for the Zoladex cancer drug at AstraZeneca’s Macclesfield campus.
